#47 - Empowering empathy with Sydney Johnson and Kristofer Kelly-Frere from J5 Design
For this episode, we welcome Sydney Johnson and Kristofer Kelly-Frere from Canada-based studio J5 Design in our online podcasting studio. Kristofer is an architect by training and a systemic designer by practice. With a magic ability to inspire people to dream about a better future, he believes great design grows from the community and his job is to level the playing field for everyone to participate in shaping this world around them. Sydney/Syd is a seasoned service designer and puts authenticity, purpose and equality at the heart of her design practice. She’s a passionate champion of service design and gives her time educate others of its value.
Both play their role in J5 Design, and today, they shared their experience working on the project ‘Braver Training Grounds: Customer Experience Design & Social Housing Organizations’ which earned them the global service design award best commercial project 2022.
We cover a broad range of topics from how to establish empathy with clients, why it’s valuable to organize dedicated moments of reflection (rituals) and how to create meaningful connections between diverse stakeholders.
